The NFL season is moving at a quick pace, and we have already reached Week 7. It has been a bit of a wild season already. Some teams that were struggling were picked to be great this season, and some teams that were picked to be bad are already exceeding expectations. The Chargers were expected to be strong this year, but they’ve been terrible. The Browns, on the other hand, have been surprisingly good, and they take on the Titans this afternoon.
The Cleveland Browns come into this game at 4-2 for the season, but both of their losses have come on the road this season. The first loss was to the Jaguars in the first game of the season, and the Browns looked like a complete disaster. They ran off three straight wins over the Buccaneers, Panthers, and Steelers.

Then they had to face the Jets and couldn’t get much going on offense. They lost that game 17-12, not scoring a touchdown. Last week, they won at the buzzer against the Ravens.

After trading away their best defensive player, the outlook for the season was a bit low, but their defense has been surprisingly good. They are only allowing 20.3 points per game to opponents. They are eighth in the league in passing defense. The running defense hasn’t been exactly good either. They have 112.3 rushing yards allowed per game to opponents, but the Titans aren’t a really good running team, so this might not be much of an issue. The bigger question is if Deshaun Watson can figure out the Titans’ defense.
The Tennessee Titans are coming off their first victory of the season. This one was a disappointment for me because I had the Colts in the game, but they p—– away the game. The Titans are not a very good football team, but they do deserve credit for finding a way to get the game across the finish line. They took the lead, then instantly gave up the lead. On the ensuing possession, a pass interference call gave them great field position, and they took a field goal lead. They added another, and the Colts lost the game.

I may have phrased it wrong; the Colts lost it, but the Titans won the game. They started the season with a loss to the Jets. Then they lost to the Eagles, Giants, Ravens, and Texans.
Three of those five losses were by one score, though. Perhaps the goal for the Titans this year is how to figure out winning close games. I suppose either way, it should be viewed as a step in the correct direction. They don’t necessarily win games, but at least they aren’t getting blown out, and they are being competitive. Their defense is in the bottom half of the league in terms of running yards allowed, but the Browns don’t really have a great running game either. The passing defense is about middle of the pack.

The Browns and Titans are teams that most people would look at and be excited about, but both of them are trying to turn their franchises around. The Browns are at the top of their division. The Titans are still at the bottom of their division, but at least competitive. It would be surprising to see this as anything but a defensive battle.
However, I do think the Browns will win this game and we should take them on the moneyline at -130. They have the better defense, and I do think their offense will have just enough of an edge, but this might be sweaty.
