Officers conducting a routine security screening at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) uncovered a chilling object that seemed straight out of a horror movie.

While reviewing X-ray images, Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers spotted a suspicious object that looked like a cross between Wolverine-style claws and Freddy Krueger blades, officials said.

“I saw three blades and distinct claw-like features,” Officer Douglas Linn said in a report on the agency’s website published on Oct. 27. “I was amazed, and even more so when it came out of the bag. I have never seen anything like this during my two years at TSA.”

Officer Dennis Oishi, who was the property search officer, conducted a bag search and quickly confirmed there was a dangerous object inside.

The TSA shared an Instagram post about the object. Fox News Digital reached out to TSA for additional information.

What looked like a replica weapon from a movie set was quickly discovered.

“In my seven years with TSA, this is one of the most unusual items I have encountered. My first thought was, ‘Oh my gosh,’ and my second thought was, ‘Is this what I think it is?’” Responding Supervisory TSA Officer Ann Rhoades said.

“When Dennis asked the passenger if there was anything sharp in the bag, he said he wasn’t sure. Obviously, there was,” Rhoades added.

The passenger voluntarily removed the object from the bag.

“Officers Linn and Oishi demonstrated the vigilance, teamwork and professionalism that define TSA’s mission every day,” said Robert Spinden, Seattle TSA’s federal security director.

“Their actions prevented a prohibited item from moving beyond the checkpoint and reinforced the importance of careful screening, clear coordination and calm execution,” Spinden continued.

“I’m proud of their attention to detail and their commitment to keeping the traveling public safe.”

The claw incident is not the first bizarre discovery made by TSA recently.

A routine security screening at upstate New York’s Watertown International Airport (ART) took a startling turn when TSA officers discovered a spent smoke grenade hidden inside an aerosol container in a passenger’s carry-on bag.

The discovery was made by TSA officers recently, according to a Sept. 24 release from the agency.

At Tampa International Airport, TSA officers discovered a 4-inch, double-edged knife concealed inside a baseball bat-shaped flashlight, the agency’s website reported.

TSA Officer Andrew Carter was screening the passenger’s carry-on bag with an X-ray machine when he noticed something unusual about the flashlight and flagged the bag for a closer look.

“The makeup and composition of the flashlight appeared unusual and outside what I typically expect, so I determined it required further examination,” Carter said in the published note.

Supervisory TSA Officer Michael Slaughter then searched the bag and felt a mass beneath its lining. After opening the lining, he found the baseball bat-shaped flashlight and noticed a line along its shaft.

“That is when it detached from the flashlight, revealing a 4-inch, double-edged knife integrated into the handle,” he said.
