A transgender woman accused of fatally stabbing a Chicago man 13 times after he allegedly mocked the suspect’s gender left part of the knife embedded in his skull, according to reports.

Kelly Day, 32, was charged with first-degree murder in the Oct. 7 stabbing of Larry Young, 50, near a gas station on Chicago’s South Side, the Chicago Police Department confirmed in a news release obtained by Fox News Digital.

The Chicago Tribune reported that the attack unfolded in front of Day’s 7-year-old stepson following an argument over comments the victim allegedly made about Day’s gender.

An autopsy later revealed that a portion of the knife blade had broken off inside the victim’s skull, the Tribune reported.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Young, a Chicago resident, and confirmed that he died at 7:26 p.m. Oct. 7 from multiple sharp force injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.

Day claimed self-defense, telling investigators that Young used a slur, threatened violence against Day and Day’s wife, and made a gesture suggesting he had a gun , the Tribune reported.
