“Lioness” season three is an epic and violent journey.
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of Sheridan’s work and I love the gritty and dark CIA/military series starring Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, Michael Kelly and a lot of other incredibly talented actors and actresses.
The lead up to season three of “Lioness” has been boosted by some outstanding trailers and previews promising a new mission for Joe and her hardened team.
Well, I had the opportunity to get an advanced look at several of the early episodes of season three, and I can confidently say the stage is set for season three to be the most explosive one yet.
Season one dealt with a terror target, season two focused heavily on the cartels and a high stakes mission in Iran and season three is taking viewers to a new enemy staring down America:
Russia.

I am going to keep this review spoiler free because season three is simply too great and too fast paced for me to want to ruin anything.
What I will say is that season three doesn’t just keep the same energy as the previous two. It elevates it, and the season one premiere features an action sequence involving the CIA and Delta Force commandos that rivals the season two premiere, which I’ve said many times is the best action sequence in the history of TV.
It’s honestly incredible how plugged in Sheridan is when it comes to the shadowy world of special operations. The tactics, movements, the way dogs are utilized and communication all feel very real. Even the gear the characters carry is about as real as it will ever get.
The action sequence in the season three premiere also reminded me a lot of the tunnel scene in “Sicario.” Very similar vibe, but way more violent and action-packed. Did I mention the drones? Yeah, get ready for several terrifying moments that reflect how wars are now fought.
Season three also utilizes multiple timelines, and manages to do something that rarely happens with that technique:

Also, Ian Bohen and Elizaveta Neretin are fresh additions to the cast in season three. Bohen plays a Delta Force operator, and Nereten…….well, let’s not ruin anything for anybody.

Overall, Sheridan has created another masterpiece of a season through the episodes I’ve seen. New villains, new faces and a new level of action and carnage.
