It’s safe to say that former New England Patriots linebacker Niko Koutouvides won’t be getting another speaking invitation from the team anytime soon.
Rob Gronkowski’s induction into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame took an awkward turn on Saturday outside Gillette Stadium. Koutouvides recalled a story about how Gronkowski brought adult toys to training camp in 2011 and discussed them with Aaron Hernandez. The story didn’t sit well with social media users.
“I’m going to ask all children here, whatever you hear, do not ask any questions after this, OK?” Koutouvides said to begin his story.

When you have to tell children not to ask questions about what you are about to say, you probably shouldn’t say it at all. But alas, Koutouvides plowed ahead.
“So Rob goes, ‘I just got the Jenna Jameson adult toy’, and for those who don’t know, Jenna Jameson, she was like an Oscar-winning actress, OK. ‘And this thing was awful, I got ripped off,'” Koutouvides said.
Jameson is an adult film actress, and Gronkowski put his head in his hands, appearing uncomfortable as Koutouvides started telling the story.
“So hold on, it gets a lot better than this guys. So then Aaron (Hernandez) rebuttals, ‘Oh, I got a whole package in college,’ and started to go through the description of each procedure you needed to take in order to be successful,” Koutouvides continued.
“And it included microwaves and oils and all types of stuff. So I’m going into my eighth year in the league, they’re just getting off their two phenomenal rookie seasons, they’re going into Year Two. Remember, this is his phenomenal second year.”
Koutouvides questioned why Gronkowski had brought the adult toy to training camp, where players would spend two and a half weeks.

“And I’m like, ‘do I interject in this conversation?’ and I just couldn’t stay out of it. And I raised my hand and said ‘can I communicate something with the two of you? Why are we talking about something that’s prosthetic, right? Outside that door when we get out in two and a half weeks, is everything we want outside that door!'”
“And they both look at me and they go ‘you’ve got a good explanation Niko but, more importantly, those two and a half weeks feel like three and a half years. And I said ‘we’re gonna have a great experience, the three of us’, and the rest is history from there.”
Gronkowski quickly made sure Koutouvides’ speech was history once he concluded.
“Thank you very much, you’re done,” Gronkowski said.
Social media took issue with Koutouvides’ story.
“A player that nobody knows goes up there and talks about Aaron Hernandez and an adult film star while being completely disjointed in telling an uninteresting story. Why was he speaking?” one user wrote on X.
Another fan called it “horrendous,” while other fans questioned why Koutouvides was even speaking.

“2 things….what was that speech….and why was Koutivides there?” One fan wrote on X.
“Fun fact – not many people even knew who he was,” another user wrote on X.
