Josh Jacobs' ex-girlfriend files motion to permanently seal evidence in domestic violence case

Josh Jacobs’ ex-girlfriend wants to “protect her privacy,” as her attorneys filed a motion to permanently seal evidence and discovery materials in the criminal case involving the Green Bay Packers star running back.

A statement from attorneys Ramses Jalalpour and Amir Tahmassebi, who are both representing Jacobs’ ex-girlfriend, identified as “ANM,” said in a statement obtained by ESPN that the motion, which was filed on Tuesday, “is consistent with our client’s desire to protect her privacy.”

The evidence, which included a surveillance video of the portion of the incident that took place in Jacobs’ garage, was temporarily sealed in the case this past Thursday.

Jacobs pleaded no contest to battery and criminal damage to property from the May 23 incident, which were both misdemeanors.

Jacobs now awaits the NFL’s decision on its potential discipline following its own investigation of the incident. The veteran running back remains on the Commissioner’s Exempt List, though time spent there would count toward a suspension.

The damage has already been done in Jacobs’ case, as he is very likely to face discipline from the league. However, a permanent sealing of evidence could prevent the league from seeing the video in question.

According to the criminal complaint, Jacobs was accused of throwing his ex-girlfriend to the ground and damaging her phone, and video would show the portion that occurred in the garage. The NFL is attempting to obtain the video as part of its own investigation, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Jacobs was also ordered to have no contact with the woman involved, pay restitution, attend counseling and be under supervision for one year.

The NFL’s baseline suspension for a first-time domestic violence offense is six games without pay as part of its conduct policy. The suspension could increase depending on factors including the involvement of a weapon, repeated striking and more.

“I fully understand the seriousness of the situation and I take full responsibility,” Jacobs said in addressing the bench.

“With this agreement, Josh has accepted responsibility for his conduct and resolved this matter,” Jacobs attorneys David Z. Chesnoff, Richard A. Schonfeld and Clarence F Duchac said in a statement provided to OutKick’s Armando Salguero.

“Today’s resolution is set against a career-long history of Josh’s community work while in the NFL, which has centered on the circumstances of his early life.”
