JIMMY FAILLA: I came to Fox with my taxi double-parked. Then came the ride of my life

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

I’d like to start by congratulating all of my incredible colleagues at Fox News on this huge anniversary. And let the record show that our channel may be turning 30, but it only looks 22 thanks to the makeup team.

Like a lot of people who work here at Fox, I absolutely fell in love with the energy in the building the very first time I walked in the door.

The only difference was that I couldn’t stay long because I had my taxi double-parked on Sixth Avenue, and I didn’t want to get a parking ticket.

JIMMY FAILLA RECALLS DOUBLE-PARKING CAB ON 6TH AVENUE TO SQUEEZE IN FIRST FOX TV APPEARANCE

As you may have heard, I was a New York City cab driver the first time I appeared on Fox, but let the record show that this place has taken me on the ride of my life since then.

That being said, I’m not here to make this piece about me or my nationally syndicated talk show, which you can listen to weekdays from noon-3 p.m. on the Fox News app. Nor do I want to focus on my TV show, “Fox News Saturday Night with Jimmy Failla,” which airs at 10 p.m. ET on the Fox News Channel.

Don’t get me wrong, a more shameless writer might even use this opportunity to plug his New York Times bestselling book, “Cancel Culture Dictionary,” but let’s leave my accolades aside — especially my top streaming stand-up comedy special, “They’re Just Jokes,” which is streaming on Fox Nation.

Failla book

Fox News host Jimmy Failla holds up a copy of his New York Times instant bestseller “Cancel Culture Dictionary” (Broadside Books, Jan. 30, 2024) (Fox News)

Getting past my ridiculousness for a minute, the thing that makes so many people fall in love with working here is the undeniable sense of community that energizes “1211” every day.

MARTHA MACCALLUM: AFTER 22 YEARS, HERE’S WHY I’M GRATEFUL TO CALL FOX HOME

Everybody knows EVERYBODY, and as serious as the work can get, the day-to-day vibe feels more like you’re hanging out with your funniest friends.

Sure, people put in crazy hours and work against tight deadlines, but we spend every second in between cracking each other up during commercial breaks and catching up on each other’s families.

As serious as the work can get, the day-to-day vibe feels more like you’re hanging out with your funniest friends.

JENNIFER GRIFFIN: I COVERED WARS, TERROR AND TRAGEDY FOR FOX NEWS. WHAT I FOUND WAS A FAMILY

Those conversations frequently make their way to the airwaves, which is why the viewers know so much about our pets, our kids, and our weekend plans.

In every sense of the word, Fox News is a family, on-air and off, which is why we have so many families watching us at home.

FOX NEWS MEDIA’S SPOTLIGHT AWARDS CELEBRATE BEHIND-THE-SCENES STARS AS NETWORK NEARS 30 YEARS

I’m always told at my live events that people feel like they know us because they DO. We’re like relatives, and the best part is you never have to worry about us staying too long because you have a remote that makes us leave. (Although we may ask to borrow money before we go if I lose my bet on the Yankees winning the World Series this year.)

LAUREN GREEN: I WAS FOX NEWS CHANNEL’S FIRST ON-AIR HIRE. HERE’S HOW A DREAM BECAME A POWERHOUSE

The other thing that makes our channel so dominant on so many platforms is the fact that TV is the ultimate team game, and it’s not lost on any of us that NOBODY can win on the air without superstar performances off it.

Tom Brady wouldn’t have a single Super Bowl ring if he didn’t have a great offensive line, and the same goes for TV hosts — we’re nothing without all the amazing people blocking for us behind the scenes.

DANA PERINO: THE UNTOLD STORY OF THE REMARKABLE PEOPLE WHO MAKE FOX NEWS POSSIBLE

Not that I think anyone should be comparing themselves to a man of Tom Brady’s stature, but it wouldn’t shock me if Jesse Watters did.

Happy 30th anniversary to ALL of Fox News. From the wizards in the wardrobe department to the bad asses in building operations and everyone in between.

There are honestly too many awesome people here to name, although I do hope this piece has inspired at least half of you to start watching my show because I can always use the ratings.

Cheers to 30 years!
