Due to the original film’s success, a sequel titled “Young Guns II” was released in 1990, directed by Geoff Murphy. This follow-up picks up later in the timeline as an aging Brushy Bill Roberts claims to be an elderly Billy the Kid, recounting the dramatic final days of the surviving Regulators—primarily Billy, Doc Scurlock, and Chávez y Chávez—while they are hunted down by their former friend-turned-lawman, Pat Garrett.

The sequel expanded its cast with new stars like Christian Slater and Alan Ruck, and it achieved massive pop culture success largely thanks to its iconic, Academy Award-nominated theme song, “Blaze of Glory,” written and performed by Jon Bon Jovi.
