Home design expert Konya Hendricks Schuh has found family history, forgotten memorabilia and plenty of surprises inside Beloit’s neglected homes.

But one discovery, she told Fox News Digital, was downright bizarre.

The unexpected twist happened as Schuh’s “Betting on Beloit” renovation team — her husband, Matt, and project manager Pete Woodkey — was tearing into a property for Season 2 of the A&E series.

“Oh, the wildest thing, in season two,” she began to tell Fox News Digital, “It was just kind of funny. Matt and Pete were demoing a house, and they pulled out … it was more bizarre, definitely not sentimental, but we’re in the drywall, ripping drywall off, and there was … ladies’ vintage lingerie buried — so they pulled out this little lacy number and that was pretty surprising. That was new.”

The stranger discoveries are balanced by pieces of Beloit history, including old newspapers, photographs and boxes of family memorabilia found in an abandoned attic.

“Whoever lived in that home, they had won a lot of awards … 75 years ago from Beloit Corp. So just kind of rummaging through all of that was a pretty cool experience.”

Schuh and her family aren’t simply renovating houses. They’re betting on the city itself.

When Fox News Digital asked whether she was trying to rebuild the American dream her family created from scratch for a new generation, Schuh said, “Absolutely.”

“The houses that we buy are truly the worst in the neighborhood. That really is what our mission is… the houses bringing the neighborhood down.”

Schuh is the daughter of billionaire entrepreneur and philanthropist Diane Hendricks, and “Betting on Beloit” puts their family legacy front and center.

Her husband, Matt, works alongside her as a plumbing contractor and former home builder, while her nephew, Connor Fox, is part of the real estate team.

The goal is to make Beloit a place where families want to stay — and where new families want to put down roots.

“We want people … and our talent to stay here in our town and not move away to bigger cities or more metropolitan areas, but then we’re also really working hard to attract new talent and new families to Beloit.”

Season 2 also brings bigger financial risks.

Schuh’s largest project to date, a massive Dutch Colonial formerly used as college housing, is listed at $975,000 and remains on the market.

“But I love it, and it was a great house to work on. I’m super proud of it.”

For Schuh, that’s the bigger bet: turning neglected properties into homes that can become part of someone else’s American dream.

“Making these old houses that need serious love, and then we tackle those — we really ultimately try to make them really the prize of the neighborhood and really something to be proud of.”

“Betting on Beloit” airs Saturdays at noon ET on A&E’s Home.Made.Nation programming block. Episodes are also available the next day on A&E’s website and on demand.
