Why Opening Day Is Built for Pick’em
Nobody knows exactly what these teams look like yet, and that includes the people setting the lines. Rosters have turned over through the transfer portal, freshmen are playing their first college minutes and rotations are still getting sorted out. Player props on opening day are set on projections, not results, which is why four sweat-free picks are worth having on a day like this.
The Main Event: Florida vs Miami
The best game of the day tips at 6 p.m. ET on ESPN2. Florida opens the year as one of the top teams in the country, and Miami comes in ranked. It’s a rare November game between two teams with real March expectations, and the first chance to see how both rosters fit together.
All-Day Action
The Field of 68 Opening Day Marathon brings 16 mid-major programs together for eight straight games, starting with Murray State vs. Tennessee State at 11:30 a.m. ET and ending with Furman vs. Bethune-Cookman at 8 p.m. ET. Elsewhere, Duke hosts Army, Oklahoma welcomes East Texas A&M and Dayton meets NJIT for the first time.
