Zayn Malik is pushing back more dates for his European tour because of “unforeseen circumstances.”
“Due to unforeseen circumstances Zayn ‘Stairway to the Sky’ Edinburgh show originally scheduled for the 20th of November has been rescheduled for the 8th of December,” the singer announced on his Instagram Story on Thursday. “And the Edinburgh show originally scheduled for the 21st of November has been rescheduled to the 9th of December.”
Malik added, “All tickets for the original show dates will be honored on the rescheduled dates.” The “Pillowtalk” singer didn’t share any further details about the reason for the postponement.
The announcement comes one month after he moved the tour dates for the U.S. leg of the tour just days his former One Direction bandmate Liam Payne died.
“Given the heartbreaking loss experienced this week, I’ve made the decision to postpone the U.S. leg of the Stairway to the Sky Tour,” he said on his Instagram story at the time. “The dates are being rescheduled for January and I’ll post them as soon as it’s all set in the next few days. Your tickets remain valid for the new dates. Love you all and thank you for understanding.”
Payne died October 16 after falling from a third floor balcony at a hotel in Argentina. After an investigation, the fall was attributed to drugs found in his system and prosecutors say it was not an intentional suicide.
Malik shared a heartfelt tribute to Payne on his Instagram page writing, “Liam, I have found myself talking out loud to you, hoping you can hear me, I can’t help but think selfishly that there are so many more conversations for us to have in our lives. I never got to thank you for supporting me through some of the most difficult times in my life,” Malik wrote the day after Payne died.
“When I was missing home as a 17-year-old kid you would always be there with a positive outlook and reassuring smile and let me know that you were my friend and that I was loved.”
Malik continued: “I will cherish all the memories I have with you in my heart forever, there is no words that justify or explain how I feel right now other than beyond devastated. I hope that wherever you are right now you are good and are at peace and you know how loved you are.”
