While the warmer weather is welcome to many, it’s not so fun when you’re travelling. Having to drive for miles isn’t very cheery as it is, never mind adding a lot of extra heat into the mix.
Hot weather can make your journey all the more uncomofortable, and the car is one place where it can be harder to cool yourself down. But one savvy woman just revealed a simple hack that will change the driving game forever.
The woman, known as accelerate_with_kate, shared the advice in a candid TikTok video. She said we need to keep “as cool as we can in the car” as temperatures soar – and there’s a simple way we can do so.
Kate then pulls out some self-cooling pack-mats, which you can apply to the seat of your car. She explained you can place them on the back of your seat, or the bottom, and claimed they work wonders.
The savvy driver said they work to keep you “really cool”, and all you have to do is rub them over with an anti-bacterial wipe to clean them. It’s a super simple way to beat the heat.
The clip has been viewed a lot since it was shared, and people thought the tip was amazing. Many seem to have tried the method out too.
One person said: “Put them in the fridge for a bit first, and they’re amazing!” Another added: “Great idea.”
A third replied: “I got two yesterday from The Range, and they were £3.99.” Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “I wish I’d seen this weeks ago.”
People are really keen to try the hack out, and the packs are available to snap up from various retailers online. If you’re planning any long drives over the next few weeks, they’re worth giving a whirl.
After all, many of us will try anything to try and cool down in a heatwave!
It’s no secret that temperatures have been rising this week, though they are predicted to drop again slightly by the weekend. Despite this, maps have also indicated Brits could be in for a second wave of hot weather, with a blistering 300-mile heatwave expected to strike in July.
The Met Office claims we’re in for even more hot weather next month, with a “higher than average chance of heatwaves developing” from July 9 to 23.
Maps from WXCharts also reveal temperatures of up to 25C in the southeast of England – between London and Canterbury in Kent. Meanwhile the south coast, East Anglia, the midlands and parts of the north (Brighton, Southampton, Birmingham, Norwich, Cambridge) could see highs of between 22C and 24C.
The southwest, Wales and parts of the north (Plymouth, Cardiff, Conwy, Liverpool, Newcastle) will see temperatures between 19C and 22C. Elsewhere, Northern Ireland and Scotland (Belfast, Derry, Edinburgh, Dumfries, Aberdeen, Inverness, Wick) will be the coldest areas with temperatures only reaching between 13C and 19C.
