Wulfrun Shopping Centre in lockdown as boy attacked with hammer

A shopping centre is in lockdown after a young boy was attacked with a hammer.

The violent attack happened at around 4.30pm today outside Primark in Wulfrun Square, Wolverhampton.

The 16-year-old victim was rushed to hospital to be treated for serious injuries which are believed to be life threatening.

An urgent manhunt has been launched to find the suspect, Birmingham Live reported.

A large section of the town centre has been taped off and a blue forensics tent erected as police investigate.

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Police said: “Police are currently at Wulfrun Square, Wolverhampton following reports of a teenager being hit with a hammer just after 4.30pm.

“A 16-year-old boy has been taken to hospital with injuries which are believed to be life threatening.

The victim is currently fighting for his life

 

“Investigations are ongoing and CCTV is being reviewed.”
