THE Boston Red Sox’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays last night was interrupted by an off-putting sound.
Alex Cora’s squad took on the Rays at their temporary George M. Steinbrenner Field home.

During the contest, a high-pitched buzz squealed across the action.
The issue seemed to stem from the ballpark’s speakers, and even caused the umpire to temporarily pause the action.
Grimaces spread across the faces of the players as the irritating sound continued.
While fans held their hands over their ears, with a few even booing.
After the noise went on for around a minute, the issue was finally sorted.
Cheers went up from the stands as the noise stopped.
The players were then able to get on with the game.
Tampa Bay went into the contest having starched the Red Sox 16-1 barely 24 hours earlier.
The Sox got their revenge, however, dusting themselves down to win last night’s game 7-4.
Their victory saw them improve their record to 9-10.
While the Rays have begun the new season at 8-9.
Both sides will have the opportunity to return to .500 when they do battle again this evening.
The Rays’ Tropicana Field home was severely damaged by Hurricane Milton last October.
They had been hoping to swap their ageing home for a new 30,000-seat stadium.
‘DIFFICULT DECISION’
But principal owner Stuart Sternberg last month revealed that those plans have been KO’d.
He said in a statement, “A series of events beginning in October that no one could have anticipated led to this difficult decision.
“After careful deliberation, we have concluded we cannot move forward with the new ballpark and development project at this moment.”
Sternberg then attempted to reassure fans over the future of the team.
He added, “Our commitment to the vitality and success of the Rays organization is unwavering.
“We continue to focus on finding a ballpark solution that serves the best interests of our region, Major League Baseball, and our organization.”
