World War 3 fears explode as NATO ally mulls directly engaging Russian forces over Ukraine

In March, Poland was forced to scramble fighter jets when a Russian missile strike on Ukraine enetered its airspace, which the country claims has happened on numerous occassions.

This attack is what sparked discussions on the legal implications of wiping out Russian missiles over Ukraine, but Wronski confirmed that Poland’s air defence systems would not be used.

He said: “There is no discussion of this in Poland at all. There is no possibility of the Polish air defense system being outside the country’s borders.”

At the time, Szejna told Polish radio station RMF FM: “NATO is analyzing different concepts, including that such missiles should be shot down when they are very close to the NATO border. But this should happen with the consent of the Ukrainian side and taking into account international consequences.”

This idea is backed by Jacek Siewiera, head of the National Security Bureau of Poland, who voiced his support but noted the challenges of actually carrying it out.
