A cleaning enthusiast has showcased a brilliant trick for tidying up nail polish spills without any fuss.
Stains are always annoying, but some prove more stubborn than others, with nail polish notoriously tricky to apply and easy to accidentally knock over.
Social media influencer Camilla Kvia has quashed fears over nail polish blotches.
In a recent Instagram update, she demonstrated how effortless it can be to resolve a nail polish tumble on a table.
Trialling an ingenious hack involving salt, Camilla scattered a hefty dose over the blemish, waited briefly, and watched as the polish absorbed it, forming clumps.
When the varnish set, she efficiently brushed the congealed polish off the table, leaving it spotless, reports LiverpoolEcho.
Camilla described the moment in her post: “Love it when you send me tips that I can test. And extra fun when it works. I used salt, but it works with sugar too. What do you give this lifehack from 1-10?”
The simplicity of Camilla’s method astonished cleaning buffs and beauty aficionados alike, prompting one follower to comment: “Ooh nice to know.”
Another person named Katja reflected: “I think we should have known that back then in the bathroom.”
JDog Carpet Cleaning has also vouched for this tactic, noting its effectiveness on tiled surfaces.
The spillage is easily swept away once the crystals merge with the wet polish, streamlining the clean-up process.
However, if the nail polish has dried, it might just peel off.
Cleaning gurus suggest that you can use nail polish remover on ceramic tiles “as long as you don’t leave it on for too long”.
They advise scrubbing the spill with your remover and then drying the area thoroughly.
Afterwards, wash with water or tile cleaner several times to ensure no chemicals remain.
For nail polish spills on fabrics like cotton or linen, Best Maids recommends placing a thick layer of paper towels beneath the stain, applying acetone nail polish remover, and dabbing with a white cloth.
It’s crucial that the nail polish remover is clear, without fragrance or moisturiser, to avoid additional stains.
After treating the spot, rinse well and set aside for regular laundry.
