Woman arrested for leaving kids in car without A/C in Bronx amid heatwave

A woman was arrested for leaving two kids alone in a car without air conditioning in Thursday’s sweltering heat, cops said.

As temperatures soared to 88 degrees, Haniya Agoro, 34, left a 10-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl in a car double-parked outside a W. 183rd St. residential building near University Ave. around 10:22 a.m., according to cops.

A bystander flagged down paramedics, who found the kids had been alone in the car for 15 minutes with the windows cracked, a police spokeswoman said.

In Thursday’s heat, the temperature inside the car could have soared to over 110 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The kids were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital for evaluation, cops said.

Agoro, a Yonkers resident, was arrested on two counts of acting in a manner injurious to a child, according to law enforcement.

A police spokesman could not immediately say what the suspect’s relationship was with the two kids.
