'Why country I saw two people die in is still my favourite – I've been back six times'

An explorer, who has visited every country in the world, has revealed the one nation that he has a “love-hate” relationship with.

Drew Binsky, a US vlogger, spoke candidly with YouTuber Mark Manson, who is familiar with Drew’s destination, earlier this month.

With a reputation for travel documentaries across his YouTube platform that dive into “inspiring people, hidden cultures, and wild adventures”, Drew didn’t hold back on disclosing his thoughts about the land that had left the strongest imprint on him.

On The Subtle Art Of Not Giving A F*ck Podcast, Drew laid bare: “I always say like, India’s my favourite and least favourite country in the world. Yeah, love-hate relationship.”

He explained: “I took my wife there and we had a good time overall but it’s tricky. I do recommend everyone to go to India. You learn so much about yourself, about the world.”

Drew put forth a staggering statistic, adding: “It’s the most populous country in the world. It just passed China like a few months ago. That’s crazy. It’s a third the size of the US with five times the amount of people.”

Mark shed light on his own personal encounters with the Asian giant, confessing it’s “tough” as he has been musing over plans to introduce his wife to its unique charm.

Nevertheless, he has been upfront in setting expectations. He informed her that their trip would be a lesson in self-discovery and global awareness.

He even cautioned that there will also be moments when she might ponder over their choice to visit, reports the Mirror.

Drew recounted tales from his time in India, mentioning a Switchfoot gig in Mumbai, a harrowing incident on a bus that crashed, resulting in the tragic loss of two lives, and his battles with severe food poisoning on no less than three occasions.

Yet, he professed to having learned substantially from these experiences and has since returned to India “six more times since then”. He is even planning another trip this year.

Mark spoke of the “extremity” of experiences India offers, describing how one can encounter “one of the most beautiful experiences” on one corner, only to be faced with the “most horrifying and disgusting” just down the road.

Illustrating Mark’s point, Drew described a stark experience in Agra where, on one hand, he witnessed a “dead person in the street” and later found himself at the majestic Taj Mahal, which he described as the “most beautiful building in the world”.
