Galopin’s wealthy owners
Galopin is owned by Mrs Audrey Turley, who acquired the horse in 2000.
The Turley family previously owned a car rental business, before selling the firm to a private equity buyer in 2014.
Some of the family now head up ClonBio, a Hungarian company which manufactures bioethanol.
Speaking about her horse after his 2024 win at Cheltenham, Audrey said: “He’s just such a lovable horse.”
“I want to cuddle him and snuggle him all day.”

Galopin’s famous rider
Galopin’s rider always wears distinctive yellow and brown racing silks.
He is ridden by an Irish jockey named Paul Townend, who gave trainer Willie Mullins his first Cheltenham Gold Cup win in 2019 while riding Al Boum Photo.
Paul won the trophy again in 2020, while riding the same horse.
