Manchester City footballer Ruben Dias and Love Island host Maya Jama’s relationship has been the subject of speculation since late 2024.
November 2024
The pair reportedly first met at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester on November 10, 2024.
It came just two months after Maya announced her split from rapper Stormzy.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed that Ruben started following Maya on Instagram shortly after the event.
New Year’s Eve 2024-25
The couple spent New Year’s Eve together in Ibiza, Spain.
They were spotted dining at Sa Capella restaurant on the island.
A source told The Sun: “Maya and Ruben swapped details at the EMAs and have chatted since, but things went up a gear in early December.
“When Ruben got injured and had to miss the congested new year fixtures, he jumped at the chance to see in 2025 with Maya in Spain.
“Spending New Year’s Eve together was a real step forward in their relationship.”
January 7, 2025
Maya indirectly addressed the dating rumours on social media.
Maya reposted comments from fans discussing the exciting new romance on X, and even shared a cryptic reply in which she did not deny the romance.
The star wrote online: “Oh.. [laughing face emoji] but .. [shrugged shoulders emoji].”
It marked the first time that Maya had directly acknowledged the romance — just days before the return of Love Island All Stars.

Maya revealed she’d received a huge bunch of roses after going public about her romance with Ruben.
Although she didn’t specify who they were from, it’s strongly believed that Rueben sent them, as their relationship grows.
March 23, 2025
Maya was in attendance for Portugal’s Nation’s League clash with Denmark to watch her man in action.
But the Manchester City defender will maybe wish she wasn’t following his blunder in the match.
The 27-year-old was at fault for the Danes’ equaliser, which came in the 76th minute of the match at the Estadio Jose Alvalade.
His back pass was intercepted by Mika Biereth and allowed Patrick Dorgu to tee up his Manchester United team-mate Christian Eriksen for a tap-in.
His gaffe, however, mattered little as Portugal ended up running out 5-2 winners after extra time.

Maya & Ruben’s exes
Multi-millionare Maya previously dated rapper Stormzy.
However, 10 years after the pair first started dating, the couple called time on their relationship.
A message shared by Maya read: “We’ve been laughing whilst drafting this because we never, ever, in a million years thought we’d be the couple announcing a breakup, but for the sake of clarity and, more importantly, to allow us the space and grace that’s needed for us both to be able to navigate this next bit of our lives with peace, we thought it might be best to.”
Describing their love story, she wrote: “We fell madly in love in 2014, broke up in 2019, and then spent five years manoeuvring life apart.”
Before being romantically linked to Maya Jama, Dias has had previous relationships with Love Island star Arabella Chi and pop star April Ivy.
According to Portuguese celebrity mag FLASH!, Dias and pop star Ivy Rose separated because of lifestyle differences with the footballer being “more discreet” than April.
Following their split, Dias was then linked to Arabella Chi.
Eagle-eyed fans began speculating after discovering the pair shared identical Instagram posts showing the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France.
The photos were taken from the same angle and even had the same members of the public visible in them.

However, in January 2024, The Sun revealed that Arabella had been dumped by the footballer, who she had been dating since September.
A source said at the time: “They went to Paris for their first romantic mini-break, where he wined and dined her at all the best restaurants. He also showered her with gifts.
“Rúben and Arabella are trying to keep their relationship under wraps because it’s early days. But they had the best time together in Paris and seem to be really falling for each other.”
Following their split, Arabella signed up for the ITV reality dating show once more, this time joining the line-up of Love Island All Stars.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun on Sunday about her love life, she said: “Last year was probably my unluckiest when it came to finding the one. I’ve been so unlucky in love.
“I’ve dated people I thought at the time were the one, which was a mistake I’ve since learnt from.”
Arabella added: “What I’ve learnt from dating last year is that you think you know someone but you don’t really know them at all.

“I dated people that perhaps, looking back, weren’t best suited to me.”
On the pitch
Dias plays for Manchester City and the Portugal national side.
In August 2021, he signed a new six-year contract with the Sky Blues, reportedly doubling his previous £90,000-a-week wages.
Upon penning his new contract, Dias said: “I’m very happy to sign the new deal.
“I have enjoyed every single minute of my time at City since joining last year.
“Playing for City has surpassed all my expectations and it’s an absolute pleasure to be part of such an incredible squad.
