The White House has dismissed a series of videos showing President Joe Biden “freezing” or walking away seemingly confused as edited “cheap fakes”.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has addressed the issue after the videos gained significant traction on social media and news websites.
She accused Republicans of spreading manipulated footage to undermine the President.
“Ironically, several cheap fakes actually attack the president for thanking troops. That’s what they are attacking the president for,” Jean-Pierre stated.
“Both in Normandy and Italy, this happened. It tells you everything you need to know about how desperate Republicans are here. Instead of focusing on the president’s performance in office, his legislative wins, and what he’s done for the American people, we’re seeing these deep fakes, these manipulated videos done in bad faith.”
Biden also reportedly “froze” and was led off stage by predecessor Barack Obama at a fundraiser for the President’s campaign last weekend.
Republicans have contested the White House’s claims, insisting the videos were not edited and that the administration is attempting to deflect from Biden’s apparent missteps.
The White House has encouraged viewers to watch the videos in their entirety to form their own opinions.
