What PSG star Neymar's father is doing to push through Barcelona transfer

The Brazilian winger is apparently unhappy in France and has requested a move back to the Nou Camp.

During his four-year spell at Barcelona, Neymar played some of his best football and scored 105 goals in 186 games.

However, he eventually grew unhappy of being cast in Lionel Messi’s shadow, and was apparently annoyed with the praise his team-mate got following Barcelona’s 6-1 win over PSG in the Champions League – a game in which Neymar scored twice and provided the assist for the winning goal.

This led to the star securing the most expensive transfer in football history, as he joined PSG for £198million two years ago, a move he reportedly regrets.

According to reports in France, Neymar has told PSG owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi that he wants to leave the club this summer for Barcelona, and regrets ever leaving the La Liga giants.

Reports on Monday suggested that Neymar had agreed a contract with Barcelona, leaving negotiations between the two clubs as the only stumbling block remaining.

The 27-year-old is apparently willing to cut his wages in half and has also reportedly agreed to withdraw his lawsuit against the club over an unpaid loyalty bonus prior to his departure.

Now, according to Spanish publication Sport, Neymar Sr has escaped from the public eye in order to prioritise his son’s transfer.

He has been his son’s agent since his time at Santos, and was critical to the 2017 transfer from Barca to PSG.

In recent weeks, Neymar’s father has opted out of appearing in public alongside his son in order to spend as much time as possible trying to sort out a return.

On Neymar Sr’s absence from the public eye, Sport claimed: “This does not seem like a coincidence.

“Neymar da Silva Santos, therefore, is focused, always [sic], on expediting the departure of his son.

“That Neymar has missed Barcelona since he left is evident from his recurring visits to Barcelona and, according to his closest friends, to be surrounded by a more favourable and healthier environment that makes him feel less alone and commit fewer mistakes.

“It is insisted that Barça has asked the player to withdraw the complaint filed in 2017, [sic] and publicly apologise.

“But for that to happen, Neymar’s father has to start moving forward in the departure of the player.”
