Warzone Season 5 Reloaded release date, time and early patch notes

It’s been a busy few days for live service games, as Overwatch 2 developer Blizzard launches Season 12, Diablo 4 gets a big new update, and Sony releases brand new hero shooter Concord. Arguably biggest of all, however, is the mid-season update for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone. Call of Duty Warzone Season 5 Reloaded has an August 21 release date on PS5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC. Launching alongside a big new update, the massive Call of Duty content drop will launch at 5pm BST UK time, although PlayStation users should be able to download the patch early in order to save time and start playing the moment the servers go live.

For Warzone players specifically, the Season 5 Reloaded update introduces Supreme Resurgence for Rebirth Island.

As part of Supreme Resurgence, players will be able to find “incredible ground loot including powerful meta-inspired Weapon Blueprints”.

However, according to Activision, the price for Loadouts is increased in exchange for access to the superior weaponry.

Another twist is that the Resurgence timer also takes longer to complete, although actions taken by teammates will reduce the count more quickly.

“When a squad member goes down, get out there and engage the enemy to hurry your ally’s return to the field,” Activision explains.

If you manage to win a match of Supreme Resurgence, you’ll receive the ‘Spilled Beans’ Weapon Camo as a permanent unlock.

Elsewhere, Activision is introducing a new Elite Contracts feature for all game modes. This essentially increases the risk and rewards of the typical Contracts within the game.

Squads also get less time to complete the Contracts, with the exception of the Most Wanted variants.

Finally, players can check out the new Recon Flyover Public Event in all of the different game modes.

Activision explains more: “Prepare for two waves of Advanced UAVs during the Recon Flyover Public Event, targeting the most populated areas on the map.

“Scanned Operators will appear as red player arrows showing the direction they are facing.

“The range of the Advanced UAVs is displayed with a red circle on the mini-map, so get out of range fast if you don’t want your position exposed for all to see. In the meantime, hunt down those scanned enemies.”

According to the early patch notes, the new Warzone and Modern Warfare 3 update will also lay the foundation for a more streamlined Call of Duty experience.

This includes a reorganisation of the game files, separating Call of Duty: Warzone from the default download for annual titles and the implementation of new texture streaming tech.

Daily Express will return with full Warzone patch notes when the update drops on August 21.
