An urgent recall has been issued over a popular baby car seat amid injury fears. The Office for Product Safety and Standards has warned parents not to use the Kinderkraft I-CARE car seat for safety reasons.
It is believed the dark green seat could pose a risk of injuries, especially when the car seat is carried outside the vehicle.
This is due to the fact the carry handle fastener can loosen while in use.
As a result, the affected seats do not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005.
The recall, which has been issued by the manufacturer, applies to car seats with batch numbers between 23W17 and 23W46.
This number can be found on the label under the car seat, preceded by the model code.
A free-of-charge voluntary safety programme has been launched by KinderKraft to allow customers to exchange the product for a new one.
Kinderkraft will provide a free-of-charge pick-up of the car seat by the courier service.
You will have to provide them with a packed car seat, without the base.
Kinderkraft will promptly send a new model, which is fully safe and free of defects, with transportation costs covered by the manufacturer.
On their website, Kinderkraft said: “4Kraft Sp. z o. o., the manufacturer of the Kinderkraft brand, is launching a voluntary, free-of-charge safety programme and is accepting a select, well-defined batch of Kinderkraft I – CARE car seats for verification.
“At 4Kraft Sp. z o.o., responsibility for the quality and safety of Kinderkraft products is a priority. We are committed to rigorous quality control processes, ensuring that our products not only meet, but often exceed the requirements of European safety standards.
“Ensuring this is done through extensive inspections of our production lines and detailed analysis of products entering the market, including mechanical, crash and chemical tests.
“During internal testing, which exceeded the typical requirements, we detected potential risks associated with carrying the car seat outside the vehicle. This relates to the possible loosening of the carry handle fastener.”
