Virgin Media offers much-needed free upgrade this month that many won't want to miss

Those who subscribe to Virgin Media’s TV platform are getting a much-needed free upgrade this month. The popular broadband and telly provider has just confirmed that it’s dishing out extra content throughout the whole of October and it won’t cost a penny to tune in. The freebie includes full access to a swathe of channels including Sky Kids, Cartoon Network, Boomerang HD, Cartoonito HD, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., Nick Jr. Too and Nicktoons.

That’s a bundle that usually costs £5 extra but that fee has been scrapped just in time for the half-term holidays.

Those taking advantage will see shows such as Teen Titans Go! (Cartoon Network) , PAW Patrol (Nick Jr), SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon) and Isadora Moon (Sky Kids).

There’s even full on-demand access as well offering the ability to catch up on content after it’s aired on live telly.

“With half-term fast approaching, we’re offering a helping hand to keep the whole family entertained throughout October, by giving our customers access to a host of premium kids and teen TV channels at no extra cost,” said David Bouchier, Chief TV & Entertainment Officer at Virgin Media O2.

“Virgin TV is all about bringing together brilliant entertainment, and this is part of our commitment to give our customers access to a range of top-quality TV all year round so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

It’s not Virgin Media that is dishing out freebies. Sky has also confirmed that it is offering a free upgrade for those who use its Sky Glass tellies and mini Sky Stream boxes.

Anyone with one of those gadgets in their living room can now find content to watch by simply saying the words from the theme tune into their remote. For example, fancy tuning into Friends? Just say (or sing) “I’ll be there for you” and episodes of the classic show should pop up on the screen.

Fancy giving it a go? Sky has confirmed 10 things you can try right now.
