A viral TikTok video seemingly shows a United States postal worker chucking bins of parcels and letters into a dumpster in Nashville, sparking concern among residents now worried about missing out on their mail.
The clip, captioned “Federal crime happening right before my eyes!,” has garnered more than 2 million views as of Tuesday. In it, a man dressed in what appears to be a USPS uniform can be seen walking back and forth between his truck and a dumpster. Each time he returns to his truck, he grabs a box and then dumps it in the trash.
“I can’t make this up,” a woman can be heard saying from behind the camera. “He is dumping mail — federal mail — in the dumpster. And looking around while he’s doing it. This [has got to] be a crime of some sort.”

The narrator adds that the postal worker went out his way to rearrange the trash when he finished, so to cover up the mail and packages he just tossed.
“People’s mail, their checks, their bills,” she says. “He already emptied two in the front, and now he’s going for what’s in the back.”
In another video on her account, which boasts the handle MRS_DENTON19, the TikTokker notes the incident happened in the southeast region of Nashville over the weekend.
On Monday, the USPS Office of Inspector General-Mid Atlantic Area Field Office confirmed the postal worker has been placed in a non-duty status, WSMV reported. The agency also said it’s investigating the matter.
The employee’s name has not been released, and it’s unclear whether he will face any charges.
