A school bus carrying nine special education students slid off a road and into the woods in Anderson County, South Carolina.
The students were elementary and middle school pupils, according to local station WYFF. There didn’t be any injuries as a result of the Thursday morning incident that was filmed by a doorbell camera.
That footage shows a yellow bus drifting slightly off a somewhat narrow street and veering right, where it strikes a mailbox on a slightly pitched roadside. The vehicle quickly turns left to get all four wheels back onto the street, but continues moving out of control in that direction before driving into a wooded area.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol told WYFF the driver didn’t appear to have been distracted and was given a ticket.
Its passengers were reportedly taken to an area hospital for evaluation. South Carolina station WSPA said the hospital visit was a precautionary measure taken because some of the students have trouble communicating. They were all cleared to return home.
That report said police cited the bus driver, who hit a tree, for driving too fast for conditions.
