Victoria’s Secret is returning to the runway Tuesday night, holding the brand’s first fashion show since 2019.
The once-popular show was canceled five years ago amid slumping sales and ratings along with a host of criticisms, including a lack of inclusivity and the setting of unrealistic beauty standards.
The company announced in May it was bringing back the fashion show, promising it would “reflect” what the brand stands for today.
The show will take place in New York City and can be viewed live at 7 p.m. ET across Victoria’s Secret’s YouTube, Instagram and TikTok accounts, as well as on Amazon Prime Video.
Viewers can expect to see recognizable faces such as Adriana Lima, Tyra Banks, Alessandra Ambrosio, Gigi Hadid, Barbara Palvin and other famous angels, according to US Weekly.
“I never in a million years thought that I would be back on the runway, but I am so beyond excited and so ready for this,” Banks told Harper’s Bazaar earlier this month.
Cher, Tyla and K-pop star Lisa were previously announced as performers for this year’s edition, which the company said would feature its “first-ever, all-women lineup.” The Weeknd and Adam Levine are among some of the men who have performed at past shows.
The annual event began in 1995 and had been broadcast on network TV since 2001. Last year, the company released the feature-length film “Victoria’s Secret World Tour,” a one-time Prime Video special testing the waters for a comeback.
Victoria’s Secret announced in August it had hired Hillary Super, the former CEO of Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty, to lead the company and its revamping efforts.
