US Open LIVE: Teary Emma Raducanu admits mistake as star apologises for win

Day three of the US Open is already upon us and there have been some big upsets and storylines to follow in New York. Overnight, Emma Raducanu suffered a first-round defeat to Sofia Kenin and remains winless at Flushing Meadows since her stunning 2021 victory.

The Brit broke down in tears during her post-match press conference, with her disappointment visible for all to see, as she expressed regret at her decision not to play much tennis going into the final Grand Slam of the year.

However, Dan Evans was victorious as he won a marathon 6-7(6), 7-6(2), 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 match against Russia’s Karen Khachanov in five hours and 35 minutes. It is the longest match in US Open history.

Jannik Sinner overcame an early scare to reach the second round, with controversy still clouding the world No. 1 after being cleared over two failed drug tests this year.

Carlos Alcaraz is on his side of the draw and the reigning Wimbledon champion also dropped a set before defeating Li Tu 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
