GUY RITCHIE might have enjoyed a hit with Netflix’s The Gentlemen, but it seems not everything the director touches turns to gold.
I understand a second series of his Paramount thriller MobLand — starring Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan and Tom Hardy — is hanging in the balance after it got a very mixed response from viewers.

One of the biggest issues involved a surprise flaw of former James Bond Pierce.
A TV insider said: “Viewers have been mocking his Irish accent — which is ironic given he was born in Ireland and lived there till he was four years old.
“But he’s always had a cut-glass English delivery.
“Clearly making the shift back to an Irish accent was not as smooth as expected.”
In MobLand, Pierce takes the role of Irishman Conrad Hannigan, whose wife Maeve is played by Mirren.
The pair head up a criminal family in London. But clearly Pierce’s accent has been the biggest crime on the show for some viewers.
One posted on X: “Brosnan has to be the only person born and raised in Ireland that can’t pull off an Irish accent.”
Another added: “Brosnan’s accent almost makes MobLand unwatchable.”
The negative reaction has been a shock given Ritchie’s success with The Gentlemen, for which he is now making a second series.
Paramount were approached for comment.
ELLIS IS BACK ON THE CASE
FANS were left begging for more after Ellis made its debut on Channel 5 last year – and now the policing drama has been confirmed for a second run.
The show, starring Sharon D Clarke, has been greenlit for more episodes after the first series’ debut was watched by more than two million people.
Ellis is being seen as new Vera, the hit ITV series starring Brenda Blethyn, which ended in January after 14 years.
A source told me: “Ellis became a huge success for Channel 5 and everyone was over the moon.
“It is no surprise that bosses have rushed to recommission it and they hope it have it on the air as soon as possible.”
Filming will begin this month and the new run is expected to air in 2026.
Sharon said: “Ellis is a character who resonates deeply, and I can’t wait for audiences to see what we have in store for her.”

TELLY toff Kirstie Allsopp has revealed that her most embarrassing moment on Location, Location, Location is referred to by the crew as “The Flushing Episode”.
In a one-off special to celebrate the Channel 4 show’s 25th anniversary tonight, the presenter recalls the fateful day involving broken toilets.
Kirstie says she was showing clients around a house for sale in Devon – only to find the loo didn’t work after she had used it.
She explained: “I was like, ‘Can someone please go get a bucket of water, I’ll sort it out’. It was hell, absolute hell.
“Then three houses later I very quietly say to the property owners, ‘Please can I use your loo?’ And they were having work done and that loo didn’t work either. God, it was a nightmare.”
She added: “The loo thing is the biggest issue for me and my job.”
FAMILY’S OPEN TO GEORGIE
IT’S the dating show that sees couples explore polyamory in a huge mansion – but one of the stars of Open House: The Great Sex Experiment has taken it one step further after leaving the Channel 4 show.
In the latest series of the show, mum-of-six Amy and partner Claude are seen snogging some of the single housemates , including one called Georgie.
And it was such a success, she has been to the pair’s home and become part of the family.
Amy told me: “Georgie has been to the house. We decided to introduce her to the children to show her how special she is to us. ”
Open House: The Great Sex Experiment airs on Fridays on Channel 4 at 10pm.
