National Highways revealed a plan of the improvements they intend to add to the M25

The M25 has been closed in both directions between junctions 9 and 10 overnight over two days this weekend.

On Friday 28 March the popular road was shut from 9am to 6am Saturday 29 March.

For a short period vehicles were allowed on the roads again but at 9pm tonight until 6am Sunday 30 March the motorway will be closed again.

Those travelling in this section of the road, just a few miles north of Guildford in Surrey, have been given a set of routes to follow.

Drivers heading Eastbound will be diverted off the M25 at junction 10 to the northbound A3.

They will then follow the A245, A307, A309, and A243 to rejoin the M25 at junction 9.

If you’re travelling Westbound you’ll be diverted off the M25 at junction 8 to join the A217.

Then you’ll be diverted by the A240, A24 and A240 to Tolworth to join the southbound A3.

After following these instructions cars can rejoin the M25 at junction 10.

Over-height vehicles have a different set of diversions to follow.

They will be diverted off the M25 at junction 9 to travel north on the A243 to A3 Hook junction.

These motors will join the A309, A307, A245, then the A245 to A3 Painshill junction to join the southbound A3.

After this, over-height vehicles will rejoin the M25 at junction 10.

Drivers have been warned that there also won’t be any access to the Cobham services – except for employees and hotel guests.

National Highways introduced the M25 junction 10 project in a bid to reduce congestion, create a smoother flow of traffic and provide safer journeys.

A range of roadworks have been out to build two new gyratory bridges for traffic restore heathland.

Over a weekend of 17 to 20 January, Cockrow Bridge was installed which will be the world’s first heathland bridge, giving people and wildlife a safe route across the A3.

These improvements mean this weekend won’t be the only time period the M25 is shut as the project is set to be complete in Spring 2026.

National Highways has warned drivers to keep an eye on announcements to keep up to date with upcoming closures.
