UEFA 'may ban England fans from drinking' as Croatia supporters misbehave against Italy

UEFA could ban Euro 2024 matchgoers from drinking in the stands following the latest incident of fans throwing plastic beer cups onto the pitch.

Croatia fans were the latest at the tournament to chuck cups – which have a €3 deposit (£2.50) – towards opposition players.

Incensed by the incident. commentator Jonathan Pearce, who was covering Croatia’s game against Italy for the BBC, said: “Players are experiencing plastic cups being thrown at the pitch and it’s happening more and more.

“I was speaking to some Germans yesterday and they were saying they won’t let it carry on. They will stop people drinking.”

Express Sport has reached out to UEFA for comment.
