Two teenage boys vanished while swimming off the coast of Rockaway Beach in Queens Friday, cops said.
The boys, ages 17 and 16, were spotted struggling in the waters off the coast of Jacob Riis Park Bay 2 when they disappeared around 6:30 p.m., cops said.
The search involving NYPD harbor and aviation units, along with FDNY and Coast Guard vessels remains ongoing, an NYPD spokesman said.
Lifeguards are on duty at Rockaway Beach during the beach season from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Swimming is not permitted while lifeguards are off duty.
