Trump shares details of July 4 ‘Salute to America’ celebration

President Trump on Tuesday revealed details of his “Salute to America” celebration in DC on July 4, including flyovers by the famed Blue Angels and performances by the National Symphony Orchestra, Vanessa Williams and the Muppets.

“This year’s annual Independence Day celebration on the National Mall, will feature music, flyovers, fireworks, and an address by President Donald J. Trump,” read a statement from the Department of the Interior that the president shared on Twitter.

“Salute to America will honor each of the nation’s five service branches with music, military demonstrations, multiple flyovers including a flight demonstration by the Blue Angels, and much more.”

The “more” includes Abrams tanks and other military vehicles, the president said a day earlier.

The National Independence Day Parade will be held from 11:45 a.m. until 2 p.m., and runs from Constitution Avenue NW from 7th Street to 17th Street NW.

At 6:30 p.m., the president will preside over the “Salute to America” at the Lincoln Memorial with military brass and a VIP tent of family and friends.

Beforehand, the entertainment will include the Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, the US Army Band, the Armed Forces Chorus, the United States Marine Corps Silent Drill Team and others. Gates open at 3 p.m.

After the president speaks, John Stamos will host a salute to America’s 243rd birthday with performances by the Grammy Award-winning legend Carole King, multi-platinum recording artist Williams, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat, the National Symphony and the Muppets. Fireworks begin shortly after 9 p.m.
