President Trump hailed the “unbelievable” economy on Friday, calling the US the “envy of the world” amid an jobs report that showed the lowest unemployment rate in 49 years.
Trump was speaking to reporters at The White House when he celebrated the numbers that showed jobs increasing in sectors and demographic groups across the board.
“I also just want to mention that the economy is unbelievable,” Trump said.
“The household income is the highest it’s ever been. Our country is doing well. Never probably has done as it’s doing right now economically.”
The economy added a total of 263,000 jobs in April as unemployment sunk to 3.6 percent of the workforce — the lowest rate since December 1969.
The number of people looking for work decreased among men, women, whites, Asians, and Hispanics.
“We can all agree that AMERICA is now #1,” the president tweeted Friday morning. “We are the ENVY of the WORLD — and the best is yet to come!”
