Mahomes and Kelce are part of an investment group that bought into the Formula 1 team, but they haven’t gotten their money’s worth recently.
Alpine is struggling mightily this season, and they have seen massive shakeups within the team.
The team currently sits at ninth place in the 2025 standings with just seven points.
That is only one point ahead of Kick Sauber that has six points.
Alpine’s weak performance is partly due to rookie driver Jack Doohan’s poor drives to start the season.
He has yet to score a point, putting him at 19th out of 20 drivers in the racing series.
His teammate, Pierre Gasly, has scored all seven of Alpine’s points, putting him at 12th place in the driver’s standings.
Due to this, Alpine decided to demote their rookie driver in favor of Argentinian driver Franco Colapinto.
Colapinto got race experience with Williams last season, where he scored five points after replacing the demoted Logan Sargeant.
He will replace Doohan for the next five races, starting at Imola. His status will be re-evaluated following those five races.
Things didn’t get better for Kelce and Mahomes’ F1 team after dropping its rookie driver though.
Alpine team principle Oliver Oakes resigned from his position at the same time as Doohan’s demotion.
Executive advisor Flavio Briatore is taking over his duties.
There is no indication whether or not Oakes’ resignation was related to Doohan’s demotion.
