09.40 UPDATE: Eriksen to Real Madrid prediction
Real Madrid are potentially the ONLY club who could prise Christian Eriksen away from Tottenham, believes Steve Nicol.
“I think it depends on who’s looking for him,” Nicol said. “If Real Madrid, who we know are rebuilding, for example if it’s them, I think he leaves.
“He knows that Tottenham are still in England behind [Manchester] City and Liverpool. So he can rule out winning the Premier League I think for the next two or three years.
“That means he’s going to be, what, in a couple of seasons, 30? This is his last chance for a big move. When he left Ajax to go to Tottenham, that was a big move. Now, it seems the right time for him to make another big move.
“So unfortunately for Tottenham fans, I think if somebody likes a Real Madrid comes in, then he’s going to go.”
09.20 UPDATE: Man Utd stunner
Manchester United have moved quickly to snare Daniel James ahead of a host of Premier League rivals, claims Sky Sports.
The Red Devils are reported to be on the verge of agreeing deal to sign the Wales international for a fee of £15m.
James was close to signing for Leeds United in January before a deadline-day £8.5m deal fell through at the last minute.
The 21-year-old scored four goals and provided seven assists in 33 Championship appearances for Swansea this season.
09.10 UPDATE: Barcelona in Coutinho decision
Barcelona will sell Philippe Coutinho this summer because the playmaker has not adapted to life at the Nou Camp.
That is the verdict of former Premier League star Shaka Hislop, who said: “I’m going to say [it will be]: ‘Philippe it’s been nice but it’s just not worked out’.
“I thought Philippe Coutinho hit the ground running after that move from Liverpool to Barcelona. But then the injury and he never could seem to get back in stride with the rest of the Barcelona team.
“I think you’ve seen that over the last two games against Liverpool in particular. I thought he didn’t contribute anywhere near enough in a circumstance where you would expect a whole lot more going back to his former club. If I’m sitting in the Barcelona board, I’ve ran out of patience with Philippe Coutinho.”
08.40 UPDATE: Liverpool boosted
Liverpool transfer target Daniel James is a fan of the Reds, claims talkSPORT and Sky Sports transfer guru Jim White.
“Swansea City have got this lad Daniel James, very impressive youngster,” White said. “He’s rated at about £10million plus add-ons.
“It’s my understanding this morning five of the top six, all apart from Manchester City, have enquired about Daniel James at Swansea. He was actually recommended to Manchester United by Ryan Giggs. He’s a kid but he’s got a pedigree already.
“But he’s a big Liverpool fan and I wonder, are we going to see this kid Daniel James heading towards Liverpool? So if the news wasn’t great for Liverpool, it might even get better very soon.”
08.05 UPDATE: Chelsea Real Madrid chat
Chelsea star Eden Hazard has confided in friends that he expects to head to Real Madrid when the transfer window reopens.
Hazard has long been in Real’s sights and Zinedine Zidane wants the winger this summer as he gets set to shake up his squad.
ESPN reckon the Belgian has told pals he will be quitting Stamford Bridge for the Bernabeu once the season draws to a close.
Hazard may have played his last game in west London on Thursday night as he scored the decisive penalty to secure Chelsea’s place in the Europa League final.
07.35 UPDATE: Man Utd vs Arsenal scrap
Manchester United and Arsenal are battling it out to secure the services of Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Llorente, say reports in Spain.
Llorente looks set to leave the La Liga giants this summer as Zinedine Zidane overhauls his underperforming playing staff.
But the Spaniard will not have to drop too far with two of the Premier League’s biggest clubs interested in getting him on board.
AS claim United and Arsenal have both made offers for Llorente, with Roma also sniffing around him as they plan for the summer.
