“The exact date they will be available in each neighborhood Trader Joe’s will vary,” the company said in an emailed statement to USA TODAY, reported Delaware Online.
According to mega fans of the popular retailer, there are speculations that the new additions will be in blue and peach – ideal to welcome the warm summer season ahead.
What’s more, the viral bags will also be available in a larger size – however, so far, it is thought that this will only be in peach.
One shopper, who goes by @traderjoeobsessed on Instagram, added that the cult favorite supermarket will launch the canvas bags in stores during the second week of April.
However, it’s worth nothing that these are all just rumors, the post warned.
Those keen to get their hands on the must-have buy – which is sure to be on many shoppers’ lists – should also act quick if they want to avoid disappointment.
One customer spilled the beans in the comments, writing: ”Get in line before the store opens!
”If you’re not able to, they’ll sometimes restock midday. May the odds be ever in our favor.”
While other shoppers recommended to ”go to a store in a smaller neighborhood”, as the bags ”usually don’t sell as as fast”.
Although this hasn’t yet been confirmed, one person also stated that there might be a limit on how many tote bags each customer can snap up.
They wrote: ”They had limits for the mini canvas totes when I got them, so I think there will be!”
An employee said: ”[I] work at the Palm Springs store!
”We usually limit to 4-8 total of the minis! (2-4 of each color) but every store is gonna be different because it’s really up to management at the store level how they wanna do it.”
According to Delaware Online, the mini tote bags will cost $2.99.
How to cut the cost of your grocery shop?
BELOW are some tips on how to reduce the amount you spend on groceries.
- Write yourself a list – Only buy items that you need. If it isn’t on your list, don’t put it in the trolley
- Create a budget – Work out a weekly budget for your food shopping
- Never shop hungry – You are far more likely to buy more food if your tummy is rumbling
- Don’t buy pre-chopped veggies or fruit – The extra they’ll charge for chopping can be eye watering
- Use social media – Follow your favourite retailers to find out about the latest deals
- Be disloyal – You may want to go to different stores to find the best bargains
- Check the small print – It’s always worth checking the price per kg/lb/litre when comparing offers so you’re making a like for like decision as a bigger box won’t necessarily mean you get more
- Use your loyalty cards – Don’t be afraid to sign up to them all. They all work slightly differently – work out what bonus suits you better and remember to trade in your points for additional rewards
In March 2024, the mini totes became so popular that customers waited in lengthy lines to get their hands on them.
Viral videos on TikTok showed frenzies and long lines at the stores, where employees were often forced to limit how many bags customers could purchase.
The “mini canvas tote bags certainly sold more quickly than we anticipated,” Trader Joe’s representative Nakia Rohde told USA TODAY in March 2024.
“Before we had the opportunity to promote them in any way, customers across the country found them at their neighborhood Trader Joe’s.”
The overwhelming hype led people to list the bags for as much as an eye-watering $500 on online second-hand marketplaces like Facebook and eBay.
At the time, Trader Joe’s made it clear that it was aware of the resellers trying to flog their items for astronomical prices, adding that it was “done without our approval or authorization and outside the controls of our quality-minded supply chain.”
The company continued, “To be clear, we neither condone nor support the reselling of our products and do all we can to stop the practice.”
