Smith spent four seasons alongside new Las Vegas coach Pete Carroll in Seattle.
He was named started for the Seahawks in 2022 after Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos.
The 34-year-old has since revived his career, leading Seattle to a trio of winning seasons.
But Smith will now link-up with Carroll again in Sin City after requesting a trade.
The two parties were unable to agree on a contract extension in Seattle.
Smith requested a move following four days of unsuccessful contract negotiations, per Fox Sports.
Carroll was reportedly instrumental in getting the deal over the line.
And it had a “major sign-off from minority owner Brady,” according to Fox correspondent Jordan Schultz.
“My love for Seattle cannot be described in words,” Smith wrote on X following news of his trade.
“I wish I could’ve done more to express that.
“Thank you for a memorable 6 years!”
“A leader both on and off the field,” added the Seahawks in their own tribute.
Smith is believed to have wanted $45 million or more annually, per NBC.
And Seahawks GM John Schneider admits the team had to “pivot” after it became apparent talks were not going well.
“We made an offer to Geno, tried to extend him,” Schneider said.

“It became apparent that we weren’t going to be able to get a deal done.
“Yeah, it wasn’t like a very long negotiation. And so, as a staff, we had to be prepared to pivot.”
Sam Darnold has arrived in the Emerald City to plug the gap left by Smith.
The former No. 3 overall pick led the Minnesota Vikings to a 14-3 record last season, throwing for 4,319 yards and 35 touchdowns.
