Thomas Frank issues come-and-get-me plea to Chelsea and Man Utd

Erik ten Hag remains in charge at United, but is under severe pressure despite the prospect of an FA Cup final against Man City on Saturday. Victory for the Red Devils would ironically see them displace the Blues in the Europa League next season.

Frank meanwhile, has just led Brentford to a 16th-placed finish, ending the season with a 4-2 home defeat to Newcastle on Sunday. It’s the third consecutive campaign that he’s kept the Bees in the top-flight after promotion, and has now seemingly issued a ‘come-and-get-me’ plea to the likes of Chelsea and United.

“If a big club one day comes to knock on my door, then I need to consider it,” he told the Daily Mail. “But it’s not something I’m hunting. I could stay in Brentford for, well, forever is probably a crazily long time but I could stay here for a further sustained period.”

Frank, 50, has long been touted for a move away from Brentford, although his side dipped in form in the 2023/24 season. They finished 13th in their first year back in the top flight, and were ninth in the following campaign, but flirted with relegation this time around after missing the suspended Ivan Toney for much of the season.

The striker is now set to depart in the summer, leaving Frank with the prospect of a rebuild. But despite conceding he has the ‘ego’ to work elsewhere, the Dane also insisted he was settled in London.

“We all have an ego,” he added. “Mine’s not the biggest but it’s not the smallest and it’s always the ego that gets in the way of good performances and life.

“Also, I’m realistic in many ways. I’m enjoying my life here. This is probably the perfect football life, working in a good club in London, in the best league in the world with good players, we can compete.”

Frank joined Brentford from Brondby in 2018, and led them to a Championship play-off final two years later. There, they were beaten by Fulham in a behind-closed-doors affair at Wembley, but beat Swansea at the same stage 12 months later to earn promotion.
