This AirTag alternative works with Apple Find My, but it’s much cheaper

The AirTag has given Apple users an easy way to track things down, whether that’s a lost school bag or a set of keys. But AirTags are expensive and there’s a cheaper way find your stuff – and it even uses Apple’s Find My network.

Chipolo offers a Bluetooth tracker that you can easily slip onto a key ring or into a pocket. It’s discounted to £24 direct from Chipolo right now (was £30), with a four-pack just £71 (was £120).

That makes it £4 cheaper than the Apple AirTag currently on Amazon, or for the four-pack, a massive £23 cheaper than AirTags.

When Apple announced that it was going to let other brands use its Find My network, Chipolo was one of the first onboard. The company offers Bluetooth trackers in a couple of styles, with both the round button style like the AirTag and a flatter card style, which you can easily slip into a wallet or purse. It’s called Chipolo One Spot.

You’ll then be able to track the location of your Chipolo tracker through Apple Find My, with the advantage that hundreds of millions of other Apple users will also be able to detect it and report back the location, so if you leave your keys in an airport, you’ll be able to track where they are – globally.

This gives the Chipolo One Spot greater reach than devices like Tile – a popular alternative – which reported in 2024 that it had 70 million users.

The battery is replaceable and gives you one year of use, while the Chipolo One Spot is also water resistant, so it doesn’t matter if it gets rained on.

There’s a loud speaker built into the device, which is louder than Apple’s AirTag. But there’s a reason it’s cheaper: it lacks the Precision Finding that the iPhone offers with AirTag to guide you exactly to its location – and it’s not as waterproof.

If you want the AirTag instead, it’s currently discounted on Amazon, where you can pick one up for £28, down from the normal price of £35.

If you’re an Android user, the Chipolo One Point is designed to work with Google’s Find My Device network. It offers the same functionality, just for different phones.

But while the Chipolo One Spot and Apple AirTag only work with iPhone – and the Chipolo One Point only works with Android – but there is an alternative that works across all brands and that’s Tile.

Tile was one of the first brands to offer Bluetooth trackers, long before Apple launched the AirTag and popularised these gadgets. The Tile Pro is the best option and you can get one for £24.06 on Amazon – just be aware that you’ll have to use this with the Tile app, it won’t work with your device’s Find My network.
