“The Wire” actor Wendell Pierce says he left Game 5 of the World Series early on Wednesday night after unruly fans inside Yankee Stadium threw trash at him.
Pierce hopped on social media to voice his disgust over his experience at the game.
“Unfortunately I just left the Yankees game because I was talking to a Dodgers fan and people were throwing things at me,” Pierce wrote on X. “Unruly, obnoxious people can ruin everything. The worst experience ever.”
“The game and experience is of no significance now,” he added. “The spirit of sports ends with the ugliness of humanity.”
An earlier social media post at the game showed Pierce, a self-proclaimed fan of both teams, wearing a Yankees hat at his seat.
“The fact that some suburban who ha’s come to Yankee stadium to act an a–, completely ruins the artistry of Cole pitching a no hitter into the 5th, or Freeman with a 4 game consecutive home run streak: both in the World Series,” he added in a followup tweet. “It will mean nothing to me because all I remember will be the obnoxious fans I had to avoid.”
“The World Series is over for me. I could care less about its outcome,” he concluded, before listing some of the events he was happy to have seen during the series.
The incident came a day after two fans tried to wrestle a ball away from Dodgers star Mookie Betts, leading to a stadium ban.
Following the Dodger’s comeback win to clinch the championship, Pierce posted a video of himself wearing a Dodgers hat at Game 1, celebrating with fans at Dodger Stadium.
Pierce currently stars on “Elsbeth,” which films in New York City.
