The Walking Dead has now been going on for nine seasons, which is a rather remarkable run.
The new season has seen the introduction of The Whisperers who have proved to be a rather scary bunch.
They are led by an individual called Alpha (played by Samantha Morton), and she has already proven to be a ruthless leader.
However, fans are keen to know what will happen to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), who seems to be emerging as the new leader of the Hilltop Colony.
The actor recently spoke about his future on the show, and he wanted to reassure fans that he’s in it for the long haul.
“I started the show, and I’d just like to bookend the show,” he told Metro.co.uk this week.
“I’d like to be there when it ends. I don’t know when the endgame is.
“I just don’t want the brand to get watered down too much,” he continued.
“You got this goose that lays the golden egg, sooner or later you got to let the goose fly free.
“You don’t want to kill it. I don’t know if that’ll happen, we’ve got a lot of good, creative people on the show, but if this show went on for 20 years, it would get watered down, there’s no way around it.”
Norman went on to admit that he could end up leaving the show should it ever lose track of what the show is all about.
“There’s two feet on the ground, it’s the end of the world, you either fight for this cause or you run away from this cause,” he said while discussing what the spirit of the show currently is.
“But this is your chance to show who you would be in this situation.”
Fans should, therefore, feel reassured that Daryl should make it to the very end of the show.
The same can’t be said for the likes of Danai Gurira who has revealed that she’ll be leaving in season ten.
Danai’s character, Michonne, has been a vital part of the show for quite some time now.
However, season ten will mark the conclusion of her time on the main show.
That said, she could go on to join Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in his spinoff movie trilogy which will air on AMC.
Other high profile exits include the likes of Lauren Cohan’s Maggie Rhee and Tom Payne’s Jesus.
The Walking Dead continues Sunday on AMC in the US, and Monday at 9pm on FOX.
