The incredible new £207m theme park that's going to be one of the biggest in the world

An incredible new theme park costing £207million will be one of the biggest in the world.

A Six Flags theme park is being built in Qiddiya, a new capital for entertainment, sports and culture being built in Saudi Arabia. It will be the country’s first theme park.

The American theme park company has 27 locations, with Qiddiya being its first outside of North and Central America.

This new park, 25 miles from the capital Riyadh, will be inspired by Arabian heritage and culture and home to 28 attractions, 12 roller coasters and six themed areas covering 79 acres.

It is set to attract up to 15,000 visitors daily, which could place it at around the 15th most visited theme park.

Of the 12 roller coasters announced, the Falcon’s Flight ride is already drawing attention for being the most “extreme” in the world. Inspired by the Arabian falcon, it is expected to be the longest, tallest and fastest roller coaster of its kind.

Inspiration from other desert theme parks, including Six Flags Texas, is being used to counter the extreme weather conditions the Qiddiya site may encounter.

There will be shaded areas, water misters, and indoor activities to keep guests out of the sun with temperatures reaching up to 43C in the summer.

Six Flags Qiddiya is expected to open in 2024 with an estimated building cost of £207million.

Five hotels will open in Qiddiya with different themes and price ranges in to accommodate all guests.

As a whole, Qiddiya is aiming to be the home of entertainment, sports and culture for Saudi nationals, residents, and tourists alike.

It will offer international sports arenas, concert and entertainment venues, academies for sports and the arts, racetracks, outdoor and adventure activities and family-friendly theme parks.

It has been estimated that Qiddiya could welcome tens of millions of guests annually and create over 17,000 jobs.
