An Italian town called “the capital of Prosecco” is gaining new fans thanks to mega cheap flights.
Treviso is a stunning little town located in the Veneto region of northern Italy.
Thanks to its pretty waterways, it is a great alternative for tourists who are not willing to get lost in the crowded lanes of Venice.
In addition to its picturesque canals, it’s famed for its medieval walls and well-preserved architecture. Travellers can also discover key landmarks such as the Piazza dei Signori, the Cathedral of Treviso (Duomo), and the Church of San Nicolò.
Culture vultures won’t be disappointed as Treviso boasts several museums and art galleries, such as the Museo di Santa Caterina, which houses important archaeological and artistic collections. The Italian town also hosts numerous cultural events and festivals throughout the year, celebrating its rich heritage and local traditions.
The town also boasts its own airport, which is close to the city centre—a car journey takes just 12 minutes. Skyscanner says flights from the UK can be snapped up for as low as £15 one way.
The town is also famous for its surrounding countryside, where some of the world’s best fizz is made, with the town often called the ‘capital of Prosecco’.
The so-called Prosecco Hills surround the town, and ‘Prosecco Road’ – which runs from Conegliano to Valdobbiadene – is Italy’s oldest wine route. You can enjoy the leisurely wind around hilly villages and vineyards on it. You can even book yourself a ‘Prosecco Driver’ to be your tour guide.

One impressed tourist said: “Do you like exploring quaint little alleyways, all brick or stone-paved? Do you like the element of surprise each time you turn the corner to discover another statue, piazza or cute little cafe? Well, do not miss Treviso. Shopping and gastronomy, and discovering delights in this quaint old city.”
Another said: “Five years ago we visited Treviso and were stunned by the beautiful well preserved historic walled city, with magnificent buildings, some of which went back to the 13th Century.
“Treviso is further spruced up by charming waterways, giving it a feeling of being in Venice sometimes.
“But making Treviso a real 5-point plus destination was the modest amount of tourists, making Treviso really liveable.”
