A beautiful European beach that most people likely haven’t heard of has officially been named as having the world’s bluest water.
Pasqyra Beach is on the south coast of Albania near Sarande. It is along the coast from a number of beaches and is not hugely popular.
It topped a ranking by villa rental company CV Villas which analysed the colour of the world’s best beaches against the bluest shade of blue (YInMn Blue).
The pebbly beach is also called the Mirror Beach due to the way that the sun reflects into the crystal clear water like a mirror, giving it a magical effect.
Visitors have called it one of the best in Albania with clean swimming waters. Many noted that it is “peaceful” and significantly less crowded than others. It is secluded by rocks and greenery.
There are others who said that at peak times, the beach can become busy with sunbeds available for rent and changing cabins dotted across the sand.
It can be accessed by car down a gravelly track. There is also public transport available with buses from Butrint and Sarande that both take less than half an hour and are relatively cheap.
In the area surrounding the beach, there is one restaurant and a bar and there is a number of holiday lets.
Also included on CV Villas’ list of the beaches with the bluest water are Paralia Mpouka in Greece, Plage de la Vernette in France and Kamputas Beach in Turkey.
Europe dominated the list with five Greek beaches, one French, one Spanish, one Portuguese, one Turkish and one Albanian in the top ten.
In the top 30 beaches with the bluest water and outside Europe are Cannon Beach in the USA, Matira Beach in French Polynesia and Playa El Doradillo in Argentina.
