LOVE is in the air at Tesco as the supermarket brings back its £20 Valentine’s Day meal deal – and this year it includes some very posh options.

Couples can choose to romance their other half over lobster mac and cheese, chicken in a Champagne sauce or salted caramel profiteroles.

Tesco is bringing back its £20 Valentine’s Day meal deal which includes lobster mac and cheese, and chicken in a Champagne sauce

The deal includes a starter, two mains, a side dish, a dessert and either half a bottle of Champagne or a full bottle of wine or Prosecco.

Non-drinkers could also opt for a box of chocolates instead.

With its Valentine’s range of luxury Tesco Finest dishes such as steak, seabass, chicken liver parfait, and vegetable tartlets, the supermarket is hoping to tempt shoppers away from M&S.

The high-end retailer also has a £20 Valentine’s Day meal deal on.

M&S’s deal comes with a box of chocolates as standard unlike Tesco.

Most of the options in each category of Tesco’s meal deal are the same price so when it comes to the best value combination, there’s not much difference.

But if you choose the most expensive starter – the £3.70 Antipasto – and the £11 half-bottle of Champagne, you will save the most.

If you pick those options, you will make a saving of £13.70 as together the items would cost £33.70 if the deal wasn’t on.

We’ve asked Tesco for the weights of each menu option but the supermarket said it doesn’t have the information yet.

There are 28 different options in total for shoppers to choose from, including several new dishes for this year.

Fan favourites including sirloin steak, lamb shank and lobster mac and cheese return to the menu this Valentine’s.

The deal will be available in stores and online from Friday, February 8 and it runs until midnight on February 15.

Tesco’s deal is one of the priciest around, being £5 more expensive than Asda’s very similar £15 offer.

It’s also more expensive than the cheapest Valentine’s deal at Aldi, which starts from £6.77 for two including a main, side dish and dessert.

But Aldi’s offer isn’t a set price and doesn’t include as much as Tesco’s offer.

The Co-op also has a Valentine’s Day meal deal on for £8, but like Aldi, it only includes a main and sides.

Tesco has about 3,400 stores in the UK. You can find your nearest supermarket using its online branch finder tool.

If you do want to dine out on Valentine’s Day, Wetherspoons has a £20 menu for two on the most romantic day of the year.
