Teen dead, several injured in 3 a.m. Michigan shooting

A 17-year-old male was killed and at least six others were shot around 3 a.m. Monday in Michigan’s state capital.

Lansing Police confirmed the victims were 15 to 20 years old, according to station WILX in Lansing, Mich.

A large police presence was reported near Rotary Park along the city’s revitalized riverfront. News station WLNS reports a second victim is in critical condition.

Police were said to have arrived at a “chaotic scene” where hundreds were present. First responders included the Lansing Fire Department and three other law enforcement offices.

Lansing Mayor Andy Schor reportedly called Monday’ morning’s violence “a case of people using guns to settle arguments” and vowed to “aggressively hold responsible” the parties involved.

No arrests have been reported. Neither Lansing police nor the mayor’s office returned a request for comment.
