T.I., whose real name is Clifford Harris, was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on Sunday night — but it was a case of mistaken identity.
The Grammy-award winning rapper and actor was taken into custody due to a warrant issued by Baltimore law enforcement for a man with the same name accused of violent behavior toward a woman and stalking.
T.I. was reportedly transported from the airport to Clayton County Jail. The out-of-state warrant caused an automatic extradition hearing, according to TMZ.
Veteran criminal defense lawyer Steve Sadow — who also repped Donald Trump in his Fulton County racketeering trial — told the outlet that his client was out of custody less than two hours after being cuffed, and a judge looked over and dismissed the extradition order.
This original complaint was dated June 13, and the other Clifford Harris reportedly remains at large.
The self-proclaimed “King of the South” is no stranger to legal woes: In January, he and his wife, singer Tamika “Tiny” Harris, filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit accusing the couple of sexual assault and battery.
In 2009, T.I. was sentenced to one year and one day in prison and ordered to pay a $100,300 fine on weapons charges related to purchasing unregistered guns and silencers.
The “Trouble Man” rapper wasn’t allowed to own a gun because of a 1998 felony drug conviction.
