Suspect in Brooklyn laundromat stabbing shot dead upstate by cops after wild chase

A suspect wanted for stabbing a Brooklyn laundromat worker because his laundry wasn’t finished was shot dead by cops in upstate Orange County — after leading state police on a wild thruway chase, abandoning his SUV in a fiery crash and disappearing into the woods, police said Thursday.

Ali Ali on Monday showed up Bath 21 Laundromat and Cleaner on Bath Ave. near 21st Ave. in Bath Beach at 1:45 p.m. Monday, cops said.

He flew into a rage when told the laundry he’d dropped off at 7 a.m. wasn’t ready, jumped over the counter and stabbed a 56-year-old worker multiple times in the face and neck before running off north on 86th St., a manager told NBC4 New York.

Medics took the victim to NYU Langone Brooklyn Hospital in stable condition.

On Wednesday, cops released a surveillance image of the suspect and asked the public’s help identifying him.

Meanwhile, about 5:35 a.m. Wednesday, state police were alerted a stolen 2021 Chevrolet Equinox was heading north on the state thruway in Rockland County.

Behind the wheel was 28-year-old Ali Ali, on the run from the laundromat stabbing, police said.

When troopers spotted the SUV near exit 16 in Harriman they tried to stop the driver but Ali kept going and crashed four miles north into a tractor-trailer, the SUV catching fire, state police said.

Ali abandoned his burning stolen vehicle and ran into the woods in Woodbury in Orange County. Several hours later a homeowner showed police video of the suspect on a trail cam.

A short time later, around 2 p.m., Ali was spotted by cops in the woods armed with a knife.

State Police shot Ali Ali, 28 about 2 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area in .

“Troopers ordered Ali numerous times to drop the knife and surrender, but he failed to comply,” state police said in a statement.
